Placemaking Project in the North of Rotterdam

Commissioned by the Municipality of Rotterdam, we set out with the Steilrand Collectief—consisting of architects, anthropologists, scientists, biologists, and myself as designer—

to map an area in the north of Rotterdam.

Each season, we created a new visual area map, ventured into the landscape with specialists, organized workshops to learn more about this special phenomenon, we hosted landscape dinners where we literally ate the species from the area, and recorded podcasts in which we engaged in conversation with various types of experts, from landscape chefs to urban planners, and from bird experts to local residents.
